Cusco to Puno

This weekend was quite the adventure.  Thursday morning, Alex and I set out for Puno (a small southern city near the Bolivian border).  The bus ride was about 7 hours with only one stop, but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't so bad.  Here are some pictures of the journey.

A typical Peruvian woman riding in front of us in the bus.  Women here all have long dark hair worn in two long braids.  For some reason, they never think their hair to be long enough, so they take dark colored yarn and braid it in their long braids.

When we finally did stop after 3 hours, there was a little market selling artisan crafts and such.  These dolls were so beautiful, especially against the gorgeous backdrop.  This is the highest point between Puno and Cusco.

Some more artisan crafts.

I took this out the window of the bus.  I love this picture.

This group of women were just laughing and gossiping and having a  grand old time. I also love the little baby girl in the bottom and the confused looking woman to the right.
