estoy aqui

So, I am here. It has been a long journey, but I am here. In Cuzco, Peru. My first impressions of the place were...interesting. There are teeny, tiny streets through which teeny, tiny cabs navigate rather quickly. Being a 5'9 blonde gringa makes for an interesting experience...although everyone that does not look Peruvian has a somewhat similar experience. Taking cabs is never very easy because the price is always hiked up for tourists...which means you have to really stand your ground to not get ripped off. If that means getting out of the cab, it has definitely been done. People are constantly trying to sell me things as they can spot me from a mile away.

The apartment is...rustic. But, THERE IS HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER! In fact, it is either scalding or freezing (buy really no where in between), which makes for a very exciting shower experience if I ever saw one. Of course, there is no hot water to be found in any sink - in bathrooms or kitchens - so if you choose to wash your face or the dishes, beware.
