goodbye cuzco, hello lima

From the window of the plane, as I flew out of Cuzco...

I had a 7 hour layover in Lima before my flight to LA, so I decided to take a cab and explore Lima a bit.  This shot is from the taxi after leaving the airport.
Lots of Chevy's in Lima.  Very different from Cuzco.
Oh, and SO MUCH TRAFFIC.
Cool picture of the autopista ("highway") from the cab.
The cab driver introduced himself as "Miguel...Miguelito!"  He was a 50 year old man and calls himself (loosely translated) "Little Mike."  He was awesome, and basically ended up driving me around Lima for almost 4 hours.

Downtown Lima.
Loads of lights for Christmas...

The main plaza with some Christmas lights...

A SHERATON!
Getting closer to home already...
Some sweet water spouts/fountains...
...we definitely aren't in Cuzco anymore...
The ocean...
looking out over Arco del Mar.
I ended up eating ceviche and drinking my last Cusqueñan beers at the tip of that lighted peninsula!

last night at "nick's sports bar"

While living in Peru, Alex and I ran a pub quiz every Tuesday night at Nick's Sports Bar to raise money for GSW.  We charged 5 soles a person to play and came up with new, exciting quizzes every week.  It was quite a good time.

Here are some pictures from my last pub quiz night at Nick's.

Denise, Alex, Nick and I at the bar.
Good ol' Lindi pouring shots of the best pisco in the house.
Shots on Nick!!
Salud!
Ugh.
Trying to breathe.
Oh, Nick.
Nick's way of laying off his employees:
"You are fat.  You are fired."

what to do at a party in peru...

Because I'm leaving and the 5th graders are graduating, we had a party.

Dancing + Cake in Face + Barbie Piñata + Bad Peruvian Music = one great goodbye party.

It also happened to be Flor de Rosa's birthday, so she got to hit the piñata and wear a bow on her head.
Blindfolded her with my scarf!!

Swing batter, batter, batter...
The stampede of people to gather the candy was unbelievable.

Pacca's first graduating class.
We are such proud teachers...

And here commenced the dancing...
